25 Things About Matt.

02.06.2009 | Entertainment | 16 comments

So on Facebook, I was tagged into a million of these notes. So I wrote here and there for 2 weeks. I was supposed to tag people back, but I just tagged one friend and my family.

Hopefully it is something of entertainment and/or interest to you. LOL!

1. I don’t mind doing these, what would seem to others as cheese ball, write ups.

2. I have always thought I could be a great writer, except I never read books, can’t type on a keyboard, and my spelling has struggled in the past 5 years.

3. I always wanted to be a great dad. I love my family. I have a gorgeous and perfect wife, Angie. She is exactly what I wish I was. I have awesome little 2 kids, Maddux Fenway + Paisley Scarlett. I love being with them at all times.

4. I love owning my own business. It is a huge blessing. I do dream of owning more businesses. Just lack the capital to start them all up.

5. I grew up for 15 years in a small town in Colorado about 5 miles from the major town and learned to be creative and imaginative. I rarely spent time at friends home when I was young. I still miss the beautiful Colorado, but love AZ.

6. I grew up around guns, hunting, fishing, camping, and wildlife. While I was an Eagle Scout, I am probably the dumbest one ever. I probably couldn’t survive a couple hours lost in the wild. Plus, I hate guns and still wish we only had bows and arrows or our bare hands to kill. Plus, I hate war, killing people, and killing animals.

7. I love music. Except I can’t play any instrument or understand music in general. I wish I would have really learned the piano when I was young. It’s the best instrument. I will most likely go back sometime and learn how to play the basic piano. I think I may have ADD, though. I had 300 GB of music until my harddrive crashed. I am slowly building back up my collection. Except with that much music, it’s impossible to listen to it. It has become a collection. With 2 napping kids, it’s hard to listen to it really loud, which is a bummer.

8. I love art. Except I always thought it was stupid growing up. I went to ASU’s Fine Art School but I can’t draw, paint, or make anything look normal. I do dream of collecting some amazing art pieces throughout my life. I really like random, dark, and abstract art.

9. I love going to the movies at the theatre. I probably could watch movies all day. I can’t though sit and watch a movie at home. It seems like there is just too much other things to do. I do dream of owning 1 small art theatre someday. I love independent, art, or student films. I am not a big action movie guy unless you are Jason Bourne.

10. I still enjoy playing video games. I played tons when I was a kid. I usually have my Nintendo Gameboy somewhere close and usually play at least 10-15 minutes before I go to bed every night. I have a game I have played for the last 7 years, and tallied up over 600 hrs. playing it. I also play Halo 3 but Maddux lost the disc and I am too lame to learn any other game or buy another. I wallow in my sadness. I also love Scrabble and dream of being really good someday. Except my vocabulary is really small since I don’t read.

11. I am turning 30 in 5 months. I am not too happy about this, but at least I kinda know what I am doing with life. Seems like time just flies as I am getting older. I always put a cap on, “I better know what the Hell I am doing by 30.” So at least I have a few more months to make sure.

12. I really do have some really great friends. I just do wish I was one of those “Trust Account Babies”, with tons of money, so I could spoil all of my friends. I always pray that I can be the type of friend my friends need. I do, though, hate talking on the phone. I think I used up all of my hours talking to my high school girlfriends for hours a day. I also, wish I had a good way to keep in touch with old friends besides the internet. It just seems like there isn’t enough time.

13. I have never smoked anything in my life. I have always thought it looks pretty lame and never wanted to get high or smell bad. Even though in High School people would ask me for cigarette’s and weed cause they a) either thought I was a “cool” kid or b) I hung out with the kids who smoked.

14. I like to travel. I usually think that driving is always the best option. I would love to drive across the USA or drive around a foreign country. For instance, on our honeymoon/anniversary trips, I tend to spend more time away from the Hotel then in it. That’s why I’ll never stay at a Ritz Carlton.

15. I am very religious. I tend to keep my thoughts about religion to myself. I am though very Liberal in specific topics. I do believe in peace and harmony and hate contention. I would most likely lose in a fist fight or even argument. I hate when people are or get mad at me. I tend to leave contentious places or scenes. I also don’t like to hang out in large groups as there is always potential for drama.

16. I have recently became a little political. I tend to have my beliefs, keep them close, and pray that the best turns out. I don’t like to talk too much about politics as it brings in opinions, contention, and unfound truths.

17. I have recently given up drinking soda. When I was married I weighed around 170 lbs. Now, 7 years later, I way around 240 lbs. which I attribute to soda and bad eating. I am finding that I don’t like fast food as I get older. I loved sports and am trying to get back to being active and such.

18. I have always looked older which has always been cool. When I was young, it was awesome and now I don’t look 29. But in 10 years, it’ll suck looking 60 when I am 45. Ugh!

19. When I was dating, I always had an easy time getting along with her family. For some reason, I just can’t get my in-laws to like me. Somedays I wish we could just move out of the state, but Angie won’t let me.

20. As I am getting older, I don’t mind critiques. When I was younger, it was rough. But I have acquired a good thick skin. Most of the time I just laugh it off. But I do have a hard time forgetting. I am not good at being nice to someone who has hurt me or someone I know or like.

21. I have always been really close to my Mother. I used to love spending time when I was young and still do. She was so perfect. She loved my music, style, and choices. I was a probably a bad little kid, but I think I was a really good teenager that never did anything crazy. I don’t think I was ever grounded or in really big trouble. Always does anything for me, if she can. For instance, if I want a PB&J sandwich, she would always make me one and probably still would. I love seeing her happy and healthy. It’s probably funny to her that her baby is turning 30. Wow!

22. I used to be a very overly organized and clean person. Now with a wife and even kids it’s a constant daily struggle. I kinda hate losing things and seeing things very messy. But I will someday prevail.

23. I am very emotional. I tend to tear up at commercials, movies, weddings, etc. I am very serious. I think it’s a curse because I used to make fun of my Mom for always “flairing up” at the funniest things. But now I embrace it as it’s just the way I am.

24. I love animals. I was always a really big lover of all animals and probably would of had several pets, except my dad would put his foot down. Now, I am super happy with my 2 dogs: Rocko & Bella.

25. I feel this is a pretty good amount of 25 things about me. Oh yeah, I love my wife Angie with all my heart and love when she is happy because she really is the awesomest!

Here’s a photo of me around Christmas Time. :)

Also, in case you want to be Facebook Friends, here’s my Profile.

Hopefully Angie will do one.

Mammoth Men Trailer

Mammoth Men 4 Trailer | The American Southwest from FRED EGAN on Vimeo.

In the early wintery months of 2008, eight celebrated, award-winning and downright awesome photographers from all over the country grabbed their sticks to ride the mountains of Mammoth, California . This marked the beginning of what is now known as…wait for it…The Mammoth Men. What ensued during that getaway was a week filled with adventure, spontaneity, hijinks and storied tales. A bond was forged amongst these men and a commitment made to doing it again, and doing it often!

During the Summer of 2008, The Mammoth Men hit the road again. Only this time, they loaded up 10 photographers in a Prevost rock star tour bus, drove for five days up the California Coast and shared it with everyone via their traffic happy blog. So much so that their blog readers actually got to choose their day-to-day adventures while watching them play out the next day. The blog following continued even after the West coast trip ended and garnered media attention in the blogosphere.

Well, the guys are back for their much anticipated third installment of The Mammoth Men. Watch the mayhem unfold as these 12 photographers board their Prevost and head into the American Southwest to document their Route 66 road-trip. Packed with more guys, more miles and more camaraderie, it’s not just a roadtrip…it’s a lifestyle.

Be sure to check out www.MammothMen.com in case you missed it, have no idea what I am talking about, or if you want to see me in a speedo and playing football in my underwear.
