So we have been thinking that we want you, as readers of our blog, to give more into discussion. So we are going to make a post every week about something real. Something important. Something to have an opinion on. We are asking you to give your thoughts in the comment section below. Nothing will be edited (unless rude, vulgar or obscene).
Here is this weeks story:

Anonymous: I'll start the conversation on this. The story, read in its entirety, is sad. It is written to make us all feel bad that this individual worked for years to save this money only to have the evil US government take it from him. Here is the reality without the CNN Spin: The guy said he felt like he was being treated like a criminal. News flash: He is! He is here illegally and last time I checked (and I actually did check) that is a violation of the law. I'm sorry that he did not know about our other laws regarding declaring cash but I live here legally and if I did the same thing I would likely be typing this message from inside a cell. I'm sorry, I'm a compassionate person, but I have little to zero sympathy for the plight of illegal immigrants. Come to our Country legally, then maybe my stone heart will soften. -Murphy (27/09/07, 11:05)

Anonymous: Well, I do agree that he came here illegally, but give the man credit he saved all that money... how many of us could save that much....geez....we just spend, spend, spend..... I prefer to go by the motto "Judge not, least ye be judged".... Do I think the gov't should of took his money, no, yes, it is written to make us sympathize with this person, but you have to give it to him....he saved all that money, and planned on taking it to his home country to build a life for himself. I feel he should of paid his taxes, but honestly did he make enough to pay taxes...$5.50 an hour, I think this guy should write a book, and give us all a few hints on how to be frugal and save!! Anonymous: Thanks guys for the comments in record time! I once lived in Brasil for a couple of years. It really changed my thoughts on a ton of things. I really came to see things from a different perspective. I really have a ton of respect and love for those who work hard and don't have a hundredth of what we do. Let alone the possibility. I really found this story to be interesting. From what I read, I had a ton of compassion for him. It seemed he was really trying to do something good for his family. Which by far exceeds anything any person can do in life. I really hope all works out in the end. I am really prayinging for a good ending! ** BTW, I want everyone to give opinions but please don't be mean to anyone. In the future, I will try to have good topics and not all topics about politics, religion, etc. ** (27/09/07, 11:45)

Anonymous: I actually have HUGE compassion and sympathy for illegal immigrants (also fostered by living overseas for periods of time) and this story left me livid. America as we know it was founded on illegal immigration and we as a nation celebrate that every Thanksgiving (and I can say that because my family was actually on the Mayflower). I will have to wait a while in order to say anything coherent about this story. Right now anything I write will probably need to be edited for your obscenity clause.:) (28/09/07, 09:58)
